For Inventors

Why Prototype?

Prototypes are an essential part of bringing any new product from a conceptual stage to a mass-produced product. Here are a few reasons as to why:

1) A design is a great theoretical model, however no design can predict the surprises and “bugs” that occur in an actual working model. A prototype is used to find and eliminate all of those “bugs” before they become a mass-produced problem. This assures that there will be no future surprises, saving you both time and money.

2) In order to have a product mass-produced, many inventors seek funding from Venture Capitalists, licensing agents, investors, etc. In this case, the prototype is used as a demonstration tool to fully explain the product, what it looks like, and how it works. Any one of these parties are more likely to buy into your idea if they can really understand your idea.

3) Another great reason to prototype is to begin your marketing initiative before mass production. Prototypes are great for use at trade-shows to gain feedback, or for product pictures to be used on brochures, flyers, etc.
